HIM Refirement Center

The Refirement Center Vision
Artists rendition of proposed When MorningStar purchased the Heritage Grand Hotel and Conference Center, it included a 20-story building that had not been completed. It was not only well-built, but is still structurally sound and has been re-certified so that we could complete it. We immediately felt that it should be used to “honor our fathers and mothers,” to serve our seniors, so our goal is to make this the best Active Adult Community on the planet. It will be just for Christians who want to make their last years their most fruitful, engaged in ministry, missions, writing, prophetic art, making disciples, and in every way fulfilling their purpose.

The Layout
There will be approximately 250 units. We have general plans for one to five room suites, and each may be custom designed because of the numerous options that will be available. Options may include additional rooms, bathrooms, upgrades in fixtures and appliances, as well as complete furnishings and appliances. For example, the same size unit could include three bedrooms, or two larger bedrooms within the same space, or a larger kitchen, bathrooms, closets, etc.

There will be many common areas and amenities, and those who reserve a space will be involved in planning these. Common areas will be conducive to fellowship, study, personal ministry, and gatherings of different sizes, as well as recreation. We are considering a library, pool, restaurants, and health club/exercise rooms, as well as things like a hair salon and barber shop.

Qualifications for Residents
Our main goal for this facility is to create an “on ramp” for ministry and missions, including teaching in our schools, writing, editing, prophetic music, and art, and in every way providing leadership for the emerging generations. Qualified residents of this Active Adult Community (AAC) will be Christians at least 55 years old, who will be engaged in missions or ministry at least part-time.

The Plan
We are in the formative stages of our planning and approvals, and hope to have the Refirement Center construction complete by early 2011.

Help Us Plan
We would like to get your input on the AAC concept through our online survey. Those 55 and older, who are interested in this Active Adult Community are welcome to participate. You can be involved in the planning of the common areas and amenities, as we will use survey feedbacks to finish the design. The survey also helps us gather financial data to move forward in our planning and financing stages. Thank you for your input.
